It’s been quite a while since our last update on this site. Hope this note finds all of you well.

Our organization has gone through some transformation as usual, with high school students moving on to college and others moving on with their lives to new challenges and relocations. In particular, we have been blessed with having Michelle Lu (with us for 8 years) and Amy Nguyen (2 years) being an integral part of our kung fu family. They are major players in our lion dance activities.

In September, 2009, Michelle will start college in pre-pharmacy studies at Colgate University in New York while Amy will get a full scholarship ride to University of California, San Diego in a pre-med. program. We are very proud of their accomplishments.

We will be moving to a bigger new location on August 23, 2009, with 2500 square feet of floor space and 16 feet high ceiling. It will be ideal for weapons training and lion dance practices.

Until our next update, take care of yourself and your loved ones.

As in the years past, we have had an exciting and busy new year lion dance season. We are now moving into the summer with plenty of lion dance performances at weddings, solidly booked through the end of September. All members are encouraged to take an active role throughout the summer. We are still short-handed. If anyone of you out there are interested, do not hesitate to contact us either by email or phone call. Have a great summer, stay cool and out of trouble. Take care of yourself and your loved ones.

In early August, Justin, Joe and I attended the International Lion Dance Competition in Genting Highlands, Malaysia. It was a spectacular display of lion dance performances by 21 teams from 13 different countries. It was an educational experience indeed. We enjoyed it tremendously. Thereafter, we attended the 4th Lion Dance Seminar organized by Kun Seng Keng, Johore, Malaysia, featuring Master Siow, the Chief Instructor of the world lion dance champions, as the main instructor for the 4 days workshop. There were about 120 participants in attendance. We all had a good time and we sure learned a lot from Master Siow and from each other.

We performed at 3 different weddings in the last 2 months. At this time we have several shows booked all the way through next August. We look forward to additional shows to be added to our lists by year end.

As Christmas and the holiday season is upon us, I wish all of you happy holidays, stay warm and out of trouble. Merry X-mas and a successful New Year !!!

Until next time, take care of yourself and your loved ones.

We are honored to be invited by the Thousand Oaks Chinese School, with a student population of 650, to teach a class in kung fu and lion dancing. We were included in their extracurricular classes for the 2006-07 school year beginning in September 2006. We had about 40 kung fu students and 12 lion dance students signed up for the classes. Most of them are still with us as of this writing. Thanks to Voltaire, Justin, Joe and Stanley in conducting the classes and instilling some order of discipline in the classes.

The Chinese new year came and left in a flash. We are glad the lion dance festivities are over with for another year. We sure enjoyed the camaraderie we had, especially the return of a few old timers, Thomas Syto, Art Gonzales Jr, Ed and Elliott Loh and Hillary Ling, in assisting us with some of our lion dance shows and performances.

HOT OFF THE PRESS!!! We have just been notified by Mr. Yuan of www.freewebs.com/lionteams that we have been selected and ranked as one of the top 10 lion dance teams in the USA for the year 2007. Apparently, we were also selected as a top 10 for last year. Mr. Yuan rates and ranks lion dance teams in all the major cities in the U.S.

Until our next update, take care of yourself and your loved ones.
